Ouest France: "At the Château de Josselin, never-before-seen crib figures are on public display".
Antoinette de Rohan has just installed a collection of crib figures in the Château de Josselin (Morbihan). Some of these pieces have never before been shown to the public.
Antoinette de Rohan presents an absolutely unprecedented collection of crib figures at Château de Josselin (Morbihan) .
But the original event takes place not in the Doll Museum, but in the heart of the château.
A large, majestic straight staircase houses a rare display of 18th-century crib figures from the Naples region of Italy. " Many of these dolls have never before been presented to the public. This is a major first, and will plunge our visitors into a totally magical world ", assures Duchess Antoinette de Rohan.
In all, over 60 figures and animals were carefully placed in a Christmas setting. " In Naples, they were presented in very fragile settings, many of which have now disappeared. While it's possible to see fine collections in Naples, there are also some at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (USA) and the Bavarian National Museum in Munich (Germany). It 's much more difficult to see such pieces in France ," confides the Duchesse de Rohan.
These treasures come from the extensive doll collection of Herminie de Rohan, the great-grandmother of Josselin de Rohan, husband of Antoinette de Rohan.
" Some of the dolls bear the signatures of renowned artists, an act that attests to the rarity of the characters. In addition to the modelling of the faces, which contributes to a very realistic and theatrical look, the silk costumes are of great beauty. It ' s really a wonderful collection for the whole family to discover," says Antoinette de Rohan.
From Friday, December 13, from 4pm to 8pm, Christmas market in the courtyard of Josselin castle; Saturday, December 14, from 11am to 9pm and Sunday, December 15, from 11am to 6pm. Free admission. Tours of the château, including an original presentation of the characters, are available on Friday December 13, from 4 pm to 8 pm; Saturday December 14, from 11 am to 7 pm and Sunday, from 11 am to 5:30 pm, admission €5.
