Some twenty seminarians from Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) are at the parish of Saint-Laud for an evangelization mission lasting until Sunday. Among them is 28-year-old Mériadec de Pontbriand, who is due to become a priest next year after a long career.

I was brought up in the Catholic faith, but it was at the age of 17, during a youth gathering on religion, that this faith became mine," recounts the seminarian. I started praying every day, and was able to share with other young people who were joyfully celebrating their religion in the Emmanuel community in Rennes. I did two years of military preparation, but I felt a deep call to give meaning to my life. I said to myself, you don't have to be perfect to be a priest.

The young man then made a decisive choice. " I committed myself to this path by first completing a so-called year of discernment and then I started seminary in 2018. I interrupted the seminary for two years by going to Madagascar to serve the poorest. "

He is now preparing to take holy orders. " After 6 years of training I'm preparing to become a priest, part of the Emmanuel community, with a way of praying centered on song and joy. "
